![]() The main thing I need to keep in practice is take offs and landings. Looking back, I feel that the old G2 flight simulator was a waste of money. At this point, I got sick of it, and just threw away my old G2 flight simulator. For some reason I couldn't get it work there either. So I tried an older version of Linux with an older version of virtualbox. On the latest version of virtualbox I couldn't get the 3D acceleration to work. Just like all software does, things move on. If you used virtualbox to install Windows XP, then install the guest additions in safe mode, you could get 3D acceleration working. I found a crazy trick, but even the work around stopped working. It's hard to remember that was a long time ago.įor a while I was able to make the G2 run on Linux sorta. As I recall you had to plug in your head phones or something to make it start up. ![]() ![]() Once I got to Windows 7 then things started getting buggy. As you probably know the old G2 flight simulator was designed to run on Windows XP. Sometimes I'll boot into Windows 10 for troubleshooting hardware, but for me that is only reason to boot into it. I say all of this to say I don't run Windows on a regular basis. I don't believe the direction that big tech like Microsoft, Fakebook, Twitter, Instagram, and even Mac OS is going in. ![]() I'm one of those people who have made the switch from Windows to Linux. ![]()
